      O-Rings - Viton® FKM (FPM), Black, 90 Shore A

O-rings are circular sealing rings with a round cross-section. When an O-ring is fitted into a groove and compressed between two surfaces, it forms a seal that prevents the escape of liquids or gases. O-rings are suitable for both static and dynamic applications.

These O-rings are made from Viton® FKM (FPM) fluoroelastomer, which has excellent resistance to high temperatures, mineral oils and fuels. At 90 Shore A, the material offers good resistance to extrusion in high-pressure applications.

      Chemical Compatibility

FKM is recommended for use with mineral oils and greases, petrol and diesel fuels, aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons, silicone oils and many acids. It also has excellent resistance to ozone and weathering.

      Limitations

FKM is not recommended for use with ketones (such as acetone), organic acids (such as acetic acid), glycol-based brake fluids, hot water and steam, ammonia, amines or phosphate-ester hydraulic fluids. Fuels with a high alcohol content (such as E85 or methanol blends) may require a specialist grade.

      Applications

These O-rings are suitable for high-pressure hydraulic systems, valves, pumps, fuel systems, automotive components and general industrial machinery.

      Installation Guidance

Make sure that the groove and mating surfaces are clean and free from burrs, and that the surfaces have a good finish, as a 90 Shore A compound is less able to seal against rough surfaces. Because of its hardness, more force is needed to fit the ring. Apply a thin film of compatible lubricant before fitting, and do not stretch or roll the O-ring over sharp edges or threads.

All dimensions are nominal. The information provided by AH Design Components Ltd is for reference only and is not a manufacturing specification. Please confirm that the product is suitable for your application before use.
