X-Rings – FKM, Black, 70 Shore A

X-rings, also known as quad rings, are elastomeric sealing rings with a four-lobed, X-shaped cross-section. The profile provides two sealing contact lines on each side, enabling effective sealing at lower compression than a conventional O-ring. This results in reduced friction, lower wear and improved resistance to spiral twisting within the groove, making X-rings well suited to both static and dynamic applications. Sealing performance is further enhanced as system pressure increases.

Manufactured from FKM (FPM) fluoroelastomer, these X-rings offer excellent resistance to elevated temperatures, mineral oils and fuels.

Limitations

Not recommended for use with ketones (such as acetone), hot water and steam, ammonia, amines, or phosphate-ester hydraulic fluids.

Applications

Suitable for hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders, valves, pumps, fuel systems, automotive components and general industrial machinery.

Installation Guidance

X-rings can be installed in most standard O-ring grooves; for dynamic applications, a slightly deeper groove is recommended to optimise performance. Apply a thin film of compatible lubricant prior to installation, and avoid stretching the ring over sharp edges or threads.
